What is Road Marking Glass Beads?

 Road marking coating reflective glass beads are small diameter glass solid spheres made of crushed glass containing silica, sodium and calcium components by high temperature firing, which have good reflective properties. It is applied as premixed material for normal temperature and hot melt ordinary marking paint to achieve reflective effect.

Glass beads for road marking are widely used in city road line, highway pavement, guardrail outline, etc.

 

Road marking glass beads are used to guide road users in the dark because of the presence of glass beads on their surface that reflect the lights of cars, motorcycles and bicycles. The glass beads reflect the vehicle's headlights to the driver, just like a mirror.

 

Reflective road marking glass beads for road markings can improve the reflective properties of road marking paint. The headlight marking with glass beads can reflect the light from the headlights back to the driver to see the driving direction and improve the safety of driving at night.

 

Road reflective glass beads are a kind of fine glass ball made of glass sand (waste glass) melted under high temperature. Road marking glass beads are spherical under the microscope, colorless and transparent, with a refractive index of 1.5-1.64. The diameter ranges from 44 to 1400 microns.

Reflective road paint beads play an essential role in traffic safety due to their retro-reflective properties. This property allows drivers to see road line markings more realistically at night and in wet conditions. When a car's headlight beam shines on road markings with integrated embedded saturated reflective glass bead powder, the line stripes light up and become less complex at night. This effect is called retro-reflection. There are two types of glass beads for road marking paint: hybrid drip type and hybrid type, which should be added directly to the road marking paint and mixed well. Meanwhile, the drip type is drawn in the road marking instead of spraying directly on the dry coated reflective micro glass beads.
